When did you come to Good Shepherd? Spring 2014

What do you love about your role here?  Before coming on board here, I’d been working with InterVarsity in the para-church context.  While I continue to love and highly endorse InterVarsity as a ministry, I am personally excited to be learning and serving in a local church.

What schools have you attended since high school? Central College in Pella, IA – BA in Humanities, Behavioral Sciences, and Cross-cultural studies. Currently pursuing an MDIV at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary here in Charlotte.

In addition to the Bible, what books have influenced your thought? The Lord of the Rings, JRR Tolkien; Orthodoxy and Man Alive by G.K. Chesterton; Mere Christianity, The Great Divorce, Screwtape Letters, The Abolition of Man, Narnia, and pretty much everything else by C.S. Lewis; Unshakable Foundations by Geisler and Bocchino; Reaching Out by Henri Nouwen; Life in the Trinity by Donald Fairbairn; The Practice of the Presence of God by Brother Lawrence; Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein; Evangelical is Not Enough by Thomas Howard; Verbum Domini by Benedict XVI; Canon Revisited by Michael Kruger… The list goes on…

deserted island, three albums: Weezer – Blue Album, London Philharmonic – The 50 Greatest Pieces of Classical Music, and Sigur Rós – Takk… or the photo album I made for our third anniversary if I am allowed to be tricksy.

What do you do for fun? Soccer – play it, watch it, read about it, talk about it. Feasts with family and friends. Theology, movies, books, photos, adventures. Evening walks or swims with my lady.

Who do you want to be when you grow up? A saint! What else?
