Maundy comes from the word “mandatum” or mandate. It’s Christ’s final meal with his disciples where he gives the command, “Love one another: just as I have loved you” John 13:34.  Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter make up one continuous service in our tradition called the Triduum or “The sacred three days.”  Our Maundy Thursday service will also contain a foot washing for those who wish and conclude with preparation of the sanctuary for Good Friday, traditionally called the “stripping of the altar.”

It is a solemn day as we sing, pray, and remember the path Jesus walked to bring us back to the Father. From noon until 6:15 PM, the sanctuary of Good Shepherd will be open for a self-guided walk through the stations of the cross. A printed guide will be provided to walk you through the events of this day.

This evening service will be a time of scripture, liturgy, prayer, song, and reflection as we remember Christ on the cross. This powerful service will conclude our season of Lent.
